This album made me more excited about Atmosphere than I've been in a long time. Slug keeps his raps lyrically sharp and maintains his distinctive and passionate yet effortless delivery. Despite the album's 68 minute run-time and very little reliance on guest MCs (not having 20 guest verses scores big points with me), Slug had no trouble keeping my attention. The song "Pure Evil" was so damn poignant and well written; "It all depends on how you fit into my spectrum / from lectures to handcuffs to beat-downs to death wish,". The production was great and the chill vibe complimented Slug perfectly.
I've listened to "God Loves Ugly", "You Can't Imagine..." and "When Life Gives You Lemons...", and thought they were decent, but I never totally understood all the acclaim they received. This new album has made me want to go back and give Atmosphere's discography more attention.
