De La Soul is amazing but yaraedyno.
Humanz sucks for the most part.
Courtney Barnett is one of the best lyricists of all time, goddamn. S/o to @wayfarer for telling me I was wrong for not liking her cuz I totally was and she's amazing.
Special herbs for that studyage my dawg.
Painted Ruins tite.
In The Beginning is so fucking dusty, not sure I really like it. Some tracks are really good and I'm wondering why they got cut from BTH, but some of them are so fucking "struggle bars REAL HIP-HOP posse cuts from random ass people" that the project overall is weak. Blu seems a lot less humble and grounded on this album, which is a huge element to the overall feel of Below the Heavens. Just overall it seems more shallow, which is fair, because it's a demo tape basically. It's a little worse than I expected, and I hope hope hope that they're not considering this the LP3 that they were planning. Hopefully we get some 2017 Blu & Exile, because this is kinda like "What if Below the Heavens lacked all the depth, charm, lush beats, and dope lyrics that make it the amazing album that it is?" Murs could've made this album. Which isn't exactly a criticism, but I don't really know how else to put it. Glad it came out though, some of these tracks are super tight.
Yall heard of Demon Dayz? It's funny that I had no idea who DOOM, De La Soul, and Bootie Brown when I was a lil kid listening to this album, and now that I come back to it knowing these guys independently, it makes the album that much better. They should've gotten better features on Humanz.
Ken is like David Bowie/New Order slow jams and it's pretty tight.
What's Going On is good. But that's not news.
